Product information "Lugol's solution 2%"
Intended use as a laboratory chemical.
This product is not a medicinal product, food or medical device.
Lugol’s solution is an aqueous solution of elemental iodine and potassium iodide. The addition of potassium iodide significantly increases the solubility of iodine in water. The dark brown solution is one of the classic iodine-containing preparations used in pharmaceutical practice and has been used for disinfection purposes since the 19th century. In addition, it is used as a laboratory reagent, for example for the detection of starch, where a blue-violet colouration occurs, as well as for other analytical and scientific procedures. Lugol’s solution is not suitable for consumption.
